Willa: November 1, 2005 - September 18, 2009

willa

At 4 years old our beloved family pet, Willa has passed away as a result of  Bio Spot flea/tick medicine.  It has been a sad weekend for our family and I just wanted to get the word out regarding the potential danger of Bio Spot and make folks aware that it may be a deadly alternative to FrontLine, K9 Advantix, or other flea/tick treatments.

My wife and I really liked the puggle breed for some reason so we made the decision to make that our first dog together.  After several months of searching online for puggles, I finally found Willa in the small Amish town of Millersburg.  I picked her out of several Puggle puppies and soon after we were ready for the 2 hour drive back to Dublin.  With a bow on her collar and some “fragrance”, Willa was ready for Jess to arrive home from work.  Of course Jess immediatly fell in love with her.  Willa was a fun loving, rambunctious dog that would always put a smile on your face no matter what kind of day you had.  Willa knew when you were feeling down and her playful and loving attitude would always cheer you up.  She was a bit of an escape artist and dare devil (jumped out of our two-story apartment window), but all in all she was the best dog a family could ask for.  She slept in our bedroom until our daugher Maebyn arrived on August 27, 2007.  We were a bit nervous for how Willa was going to react to the baby, but it didn’t take long for Willa to protect her as if she was one of her own.  Maebyn absolutely adored Willa and in fact “lilla” was amongst her first words.  The two were inseparable.  When Maebyn began talking on a regular basis, she would consistently ask “where’s Willa?” or “what’s Willa doing”.  Willa shared the house with Joplyn for a few years, which was my sister-in-laws miniature greyhound.  They used to run for hours in our backyard after each other as you can see in this video.  She also played with our neighbors dog, Luna, which was also a pug mix.  They would gaze at each other through our fence and practically beg to play with each other.  It became a daily routine to throw Luna over our fence to play with Willa for a few hours and then toss her back when they were both exhausted.  This went on for a few months until we left our Grove City house and moved back to our hometown of Caldwell.

I could write for pages of the memories we have all shared with Willa but in short I just wanted to post awareness of her sudden and wrongful death as a result of Bio Spot.  Please tell everyone you know about Bio Spot and visit the website www.biospotvictims.org to read more stories like ours.  Willa was truely one of a kind and there will never be a another dog like her.  We are thankful for the short time we did have together but it was ended too soon.  She will be deeply missed by all of us and I feel like a part of me is gone.  I’m not sure how it is done in animal kingdom but if there is an afterlife, Willa you surely deserve it.
